Alberta-Zhejiang Global Partnership Program

Alberta Innovates and the Zhejiang Science and Technology Exchange Center with Foreign Countries (ZSTEC) present the next Call for Project Applications for the Alberta-Zhejiang Global Partnership Program. The objective of this program is to stimulate small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) access to global technical expertise and investment, and to enhance technology transfer and market access opportunities.

This program helps SMEs establish new partnerships and build on existing connections within international jurisdictions. It helps connect Alberta SMEs with international partners, encouraging collaboration and promoting Alberta internationally as a world-class destination for research, innovation and commercialization. 

Applications are open to Alberta SMEs who have previously participated in an Alberta Innovates matchmaking event in Alberta or Zhejiang. SMEs must also have an existing partner in the opposite jurisdiction and a project scope that fits within the program criteria.

Accepted projects must be in one of the following sectors:

  • Platform Technologies (ICT, Internet of Things, Mobile, Sensors, Advanced Data Analytics, Nano science)
  • Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Natural Source Health Products, Pharmaceutical and Medical Products)
  • Clean Energy (Clean Tech, Energy-saving and Renewable Energy Technologies)
  • Environmental Technologies
  • Agriculture and Forestry technologies

Overview

The Alberta-Zhejiang Global Partnership Program was developed by the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade with the People’s Republic of China's Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government to facilitate industry collaboration in research and development, and encourage innovative technological development opportunities in Alberta and Zhejiang for the purpose of commercialization.

The aim of the Alberta-Zhejiang Global Partnership Program is to provide for-profit SMEs from the two partner jurisdictions with assistance in establishing global partnerships, as well as accessing grant funding to support strategic, industry-driven commercialization projects that involves novel and innovative products and materials.

The Program is jointly managed by Alberta Innovates and Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Exchange Center with Foreign Countries (ZSTEC).
