Health Product Development Program

The Health Product Development Program is not currently accepting applications.

Overview

The Health Product Development Program assists Alberta-based health technology SMEs in the development of new health products.

The program includes two levels of project funding:

Phase I – Proof-of-Concept:

The project aims to establish that a concept and principle, based on solid research results, can be realized in a functioning prototype of a product. The function of such an initial prototype can be refined during product development.

A Phase I project is expected to be within Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4-5.

The program provides funds covering up to 100% of the total project cost to a maximum of $100,000 for a Phase I project.

Phase II – Product Development:

The project aims to develop a health technology into a marketable product. It involves refining the function of a prototype, integrating components and optimizing user interaction and interfaces.

A Phase II project is expected to be within Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4-7.

The program provides funds covering up to 100% of the total project cost to a maximum of $150,000 for a Phase II project.
